IMPORTANCE OF TRENCHLESS PIPE REPAIR
While traditional pipe repair or replacement involved excavation, trenchless pipe repair requires much less digging. This typically makes it more affordable because you don't pay for the machinery or manpower to operate it. It's also an efficient method without much noise created. Trenchless pipe replacement is especially useful when the sewer pipe runs into an adjacent property or lies under pavement costly landscaping. While excavating would dig up all of this material, our trenchless methods have a much smaller footprint.
THE TRENCHLESS PROCESS
Trenchless sewer replacement can be done in a few ways. With pipe bursting, holes are dug at either end of the sewer pipe section that needs to be replaced, and a new pipe is drawn through the old pipe, breaking it up as it goes. Pipe bursting can be used even if the old pipe has collapsed, as there only needs to be enough room to string a cable through.
On the other hand, trenchless pipe lining involves threading a slightly small resin tube into the existing tube, inflating it, and allowing the tube to cure. This restores the integrity of the pipe without having to replace it. Trenchless pipe lining is an appropriate solution in many cases but may not work if the pipe has joints or has already collapsed.
Another method of trenchless pipe repair is directional boring, sometimes known as horizontal directional boring. This is similarly more efficient and less costly than excavation. Through this process, a hole can be drilled horizontally without disturbing the land above it. Directional boring can more easily avoid obstacles that lie above the sewer line than traditional sewer repair. With a horizontal hole, a replacement sewer pipe can be attached to the bore stem and placed into the hole.
